Perdomo Worldwide Advances Grand Tower Redevelopment Following Major Environmental and Demolition Milestones
Jackson County, IL — Perdomo Worldwide has made significant progress in the redevelopment of the Grand Tower Energy Center in Jackson County, Illinois, as part of a long-term transformation into a future-ready industrial hub. Since acquiring the site through a Risk & Liability Transfer (RLT) deal, the company has completed major phases of environmental remediation and structural demolition, moving one step closer to repositioning the property for next-generation infrastructure.

The project, executed in partnership with Espinosa Investments, began with the full decommissioning of the 640.9-megawatt gas-fired power plant, including the safe removal and management of Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) and legacy industrial oils. These efforts were led by Perdomo of NY, the firm’s dedicated demolition and remediation division, as part of a $28 million environmental cleanup and demolition scope.
“We’ve reached a critical turning point at Grand Tower,” said a spokesperson for Perdomo Worldwide. “What was once a liability for prior ownership is now a strategic asset on its way to powering data centers, manufacturing, and logistics—all with barge access to the Mississippi River.”
With site clearing and environmental mitigation substantially complete, Perdomo Worldwide is preparing to begin infrastructure upgrades, including the installation of three new substations (346 kV, 136 kV, and 69 kV). These upgrades will significantly increase the site’s capacity to support energy-intensive tenants such as hyperscale data centers and large-scale industrial operations.
The Grand Tower site, with its unique combination of existing transmission infrastructure, waterway access, and proximity to central U.S. markets, is positioned to become a cornerstone of Southern Illinois’ industrial redevelopment.
Perdomo Worldwide’s commitment to turnkey risk transfer—managing the acquisition, cleanup, and repositioning of complex industrial properties—continues to create opportunity for communities, investors, and industries alike.
