Originally established in 1863, the plant has a rich history spanning over 150 years and encompasses approximately 800,000 square feet of manufacturing space.
At its peak, the plant employed 290 workers and served as a major economic driver for Salem City and the surrounding region. Known for many years as Anchor Glass, the facility became part of the Ardagh Group following a significant transaction in 2012 valued at $880 million. The plant ceased operations in 2014, leaving a notable industrial footprint and legacy.
In 2025, Perdomo Worldwide acquired the property as part of its ongoing strategy of Risk Liability Transfer (RLT), specializing in the purchase and redevelopment of complex industrial properties with environmental and financial liabilities. This acquisition underscores Perdomo’s commitment to managing challenging assets while unlocking future potential.
